St Helens’ Morgan Knowles will not play in Saturday’s Final after the club lost their case ahead of the two-match suspension he received following the semi-final against Salford.

An independent court upheld the decision of the Match Review Board and also imposed a £500 fine.

Knowles was found guilty in the Saints’ 19-12 semi-final win over Salford for breaking Chris Atkin’s arm, and his conduct was deemed Class B Hazardous Contact with an opponent.

The fee being kept unchanged is a blow to the defending champions; Outgoing coach Kristian Woolf said in his post-match press conference that he did not expect any consequences.

Without Knowles on the pitch, St Helens will return to Old Trafford for the fourth year in a row on Saturday and their Final against Leeds will be broadcast live on Sky Sports (starting at 6pm).
