Devndra Chawla has stepped down as CEO and CEO of fast-moving consumer goods, fashion and beauty retailer Spencer’s Retail. The resignation is effective from January 20, 2023.
Spencer’s Retail noted the resignation in a regulatory filing, the Retail Bureau of India reported. Chawla also resigned as a member of the company’s board of directors, also effective January 20.
Chawla has been appointed CEO of the shared electric mobility business GreenCell Mobility promoted by Eversource Capital. Chawla has been hired because of his experience in developing customer-focused businesses and will be tasked with leading GreenCell’s growth into India’s leading green surface transportation company. In her new role, Chawla will report to GreenCell’s board of directors.
Previous positions held by Chawla include CEO of Future Consumer Limited and president of food business group, FMCG Future group. He also served as the managing director of Walmart India and worked with both Coca-Cola and Asian Paints.
Spencer’s Retail specializes in high-value fashion and lifestyle products, from casual and ethnic clothing to makeup to food. The business is part of the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group and recently launched a new form of retail called ‘Spencer’s Value Market’.
