Speaker Dominant Corner Carter
Speaker corner (Street Sense) lifted its 2022 record to a perfect treble with a sensational win at GI Carter H. on a picturesque Saturday afternoon at the Aqueduct.
Rated as favoritism 3-5, the Godolphin chicken quickly left the outer encirclement, but was quickly overwhelmed by the trio of opponents inside. Speaker’s Corner broke out to claim a clear lead after the first quarter rose: 23.17 with Reinvestment risk (Start up) track from the second to his inner side.
That enemy backed off a bit when Speaker’s Corner registered one: 46.11 half-mile and Green light (Spin hard) oscillates to present a new external challenge. That threat was short-lived, however, as Speaker’s Corner easily eliminated its opponents at the top of the stretch, flying home with ease under Junior Alvarado’s hand to win for fun. It has a length of 4 and a half returns Rollover risk on Monday and GISW Mind control (Staying on Desire) came in third.
Winning coach Bill Mott said: “We thought he was talented when he was 2 years old. “He had some small issues where we had to give him time and then we had to give him more time than we wanted, but for now it seems to be fine. That’s a major goal [winning a Grade I]. That is the goal. ”
When targeting the June 11 GI Met Mile, “We had to put that on the list of everything. That would be a major goal. We strangled him pretty well the way it was. We’re back five weeks, four weeks, so he’s got his races pretty close together. “
“He was a horse that we always appreciated very much,” said Alvarado. “We figured out what he wanted to do. He is a very good person. We had a great trip today, and he was there all the way. He is the very best horse. He took the lead around the half-mile pole and after that, he just did his thing. He chased them away early. He walks comfortably and faster than the other horses. He threw me a similar kick at seven eighths as a mile. He’s playing his ‘A’ game right now. He will be a tough horse this year. “
Breaking his maidenhood at the second question in October 2020, The Corner Speaker was not seen again until August 2021 when he joined the Saratoga grant. Coming out of the next table when expanded to nine pounds for the GI Pennsylvania Derby, he recovered with the right to claim the sixteenth shorter length 6 3/4 option at Belmont in October, well for a 109 Beyer Speed Figure. Set the speed in Aqueduct’s Discover S. On November 27, the house hybrid set the pace early, but ran down late, coming in second. The Corner Speaker started this semester with a lead in the Gulfstream GIII Fred Hooper S. January 29th one mile and led the way to a decisive win in the GII Gulfstream Park Mile on the 5th. last March.
