Sorry Apple! ‘Glowtime Event’ Looks Like It Was Generated by AI [Opinion]
The iPhone 16 launch was the most anticipated tech launch of 2024, but the company made it so special that Apple fans actually found it hard to watch. While we’re talking about AI, the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event felt like it was created by AI with almost no human element – something that’s very un-Apple. There were no breaks, no humor, and no opportunity to interact with the audience. The announcements were delivered one after the other by Apple executives, as if they were all hurriedly reading from a teleprompter. The script was bad, and for the first time, it felt like Apple was going to blow this one out of the water.

As a tech journalist covering Apple for over 12 years, this is the first time I’ve felt like – Hey, this could be a press release if you just wanted to bombard viewers with announcement after announcement. The tone, the presentation, it felt rushed and somehow needed to cram more content into a short amount of time. And it sounded robotic, like we had an AI-generated voice talking to viewers in a YouTube video.
While Apple is hosting this ‘Glowtime’ event live, what’s disappointing is that Apple will be broadcasting this same pre-recorded event to people who made the effort to visit Apple Park. Imagine traveling to the US (not to mention the jet lag), taking a selfie in front of the Apple campus, only to be surprised by a pre-recorded YouTube video that sounds like an AI-generated keynote.
No doubt, Apple has a lot to announce– Watch, Airpods, Apple Intelligence, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and more. No live demos and pre-recorded generic marketing videos Apple’s ‘Glowtime’ event sounds repetitive and frankly boring! Dear Apple, we expect better! If you’re excited about a new launch, get your audience excited too. Just sharing the key specs and overwhelming your audience with information doesn’t really make it Apple-like. We’ve had Samsung and Google do the same thing!
Sure, the new products sound great and every Apple fan wants to try them out, but the launch could have been better. We expected it to be better. This is just an opinion and not everyone has to agree with it!
