Sony may have a new plan for PC users to play more of its PlayStation titles


Sony is said to be developing its standalone launcher on PC, which is expected to be released in the coming days. As the company recently released Marvelof Spider-Man Remastered for PC, references to “PlayStation PC Launcher” were found in the game’s files. An earlier report by Video Game Chronicle suggested that Sony could also introduce and integrate Playstation Network support into its PC games.
According to a report by XDA Developers (verified by Video Game Chronicle), references to “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements” were also found in Spider-Man Remastered. Furthermore, the report says that the company may eventually allow users to cross-purchase the game for PS5 and PC.
The importance of a PlayStation Network account to play PC games
The report adds that currently, desktop gamers don’t need a PlayStation Network account to discover Sony titles on PC. However, players are also not allowed to transfer their saved data from the console to the PC.

Without the PlayStation Network, the PC versions of PlayStation games also don’t sync trophies to the server, but they still offer achievements. The report claims that this could change in the coming days to make things more convenient for PlayStation and PC owners.
How Sony has changed its game business strategy
According to the report, Sony has been more open-minded in recent years as it has published several titles exclusively for its console on PC. The company was forced to adopt a different kind of business model due to competition from other rival companies such as Microsoft.
