Sonali Phogat killed by her PA & his friend for property: CBI | India News

NEW DELHI: Three months after former actor and leader Haryana BJP Sonali Phogat was found dead in her hotel room in Goa, CBI filed a complaint against her personal assistant and his friend accusing them of killing her to obtain property. Phogat’s PA Sudhir Sangwan and his friend Sukhwinder were previously arrested in the case.
They have been charged under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (murder), read under Section 34 (common intent) and Section 36 (consequences or death caused partly by act and partly by negligence). omission).
In the 1,000-page indictment filed before the judicial court in Mapusa, Goa, the Delhi unit of the agency said that the duo allegedly raped Phogat for drug consumption (MDMA) until a few hours before she died.
In addition to witness testimony, police have attached a CCTV footage from the famous Curlies beach shack, located on Anjuna beach, showing Sangwan poured a glass of wine down her throat. She began to experience discomfort and was nearly unable to walk on her own after taking it, the agency said.
Officials said Sangwan had mixed MDMA (a synthetic drug) in Phogat’s drink, causing her to spend nearly two hours in the club’s restroom and vomiting repeatedly. She was seen being taken out of the club at around 4:30 a.m.
According to the indictment, Phogat was brought back by her associates to the Grand Leonny resort in Vagator, where they had been. Hours later, she was taken to St Anthony’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. According to the CBI, the duo allegedly gave her a drug overdose to kill her and appropriate her money and property.
The case had previously been investigated by Goa Police and the investigation was subsequently referred to CBI at the request of Phogat’s family. Police arrested five people in the case including Curlies owner Edwin Nunes and the custodian of the resort Phogat was staying at. Earlier this month, Nunes was arrested by Telangana Police along with others from Anjuna in Goa during a drug dealing in Hyderabad.
Phogat, who ran in the 2019 congressional polls in Haryana and lost, has been with the BJP since 2008. She is famous on Instagram and video sharing app Tik tok. The case is scheduled to be heard again on December 5
