Elliot joined the family business and forayed into music on his own, founding an independent record label called 10K Projects.
He gave Sofia an emerald-cut diamond ring that various experts cited by Page Six estimated to cost between 4 and 8 carats.
“I love Elliot,” Lionel Richie told Access after the engagement. ‘I’ve known him since he was 12, so what about that? So that’s one of those things where I don’t have to go back and check on the kid – I know who he is. ‘

He dismissed that when Elliot asked his permission to propose to Sofia: ‘He’s a nervous breakdown, poor guy, I thought he was going to faint but he survived.’
Lionel said: ‘I was going to hit him a bit but I didn’t want to play, he was going to faint, so that was amazing. I mean, they love each other deeply, so all I can say is that’s what you really want as a dad. ‘
