STORM RAVEN (m, 6, Bodemeister – Crystal Current, by AP Indy), bred as Evenly

At the November 2020 Breeding Stock Sale in Keeneland, I was looking for a mare that would boost my Ohio breeding operations. I was on vacation for a week and a few days after the sale, found the Storm Raven. The Storm Raven is exactly what I was looking for, a 2 year old winner from a deep earth race family and in the foal of my most sought after stallion, Vino Rosso.
Not long after that, I found myself at the Fasig Tipton Night of the Stars Sale in November. Her beautiful Vino Rosso Colt watch sold for $150,000 becoming my best seller and leading the way. Ohio becomes the highest priced Ohio breed weaning in 2021. My hobby is now profitable and my dream is to be able to raise a mare. Evenly is looking like a possibility. Coolmore looked at the Vino Rosso pony and liked Evenly/ Mating Storm Raven. After analyzing a few other options, the contract was signed with Justify in 2022. Dreams do come true.

LANE DICK (m, 6, Spinning candy–Tangueray Miss, by Cowboy Cal), bred with Realistic jokes

It’s a similar scene in 2021 to the year before when I walked the Keeneland Sales grounds with my best friend Jon Wise, looking for another standout mare to fit my program in Ohio. . After a few good sales at the beginning of the year, our budget grew. Candy Lane was the highlight for us. A young man Spinning candy I doubted the opportunity, but firmly decided we were there when she sold. She ended up selling for the exact amount I wrote her down. In all my excitement, I didn’t really think that even though our Ohio OTBO board unanimously voted and passed the Sales Exception rule that would allow me to bring Candy Lane back to the blanket farm raised mine in Ohio and turned the Justify pony into an Ohio cross. , that rule has yet to be handled by the Ohio legislature. After reviewing all my options and consulting with several experts, my only option commercially and financially with her is to become a breeder. Kentucky and left Candy Lane there to raise Justify pony and bred her back into a stud in Kentucky. It was a bittersweet decision, as I was looking forward to taking her home to the empty stall I had prepared to buy. The Candy Lane pedigree fits particularly well with the Into Mischief line, we spent the rest of the November Sale looking at Into Mischief ponies and decided that Realistic jokes is the best choice for Candy Lane based on the physical attributes I see him impart to his ponies. I am very excited for these 2022 matings and hope to see them yield great ponies for these two young mares.
