Small press tour between Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin II in LA & NY next week

Via Dan Ambrose: Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin will kick off a two-city tour next week to promote their September 17 trilogy fight on DAZN pay-per-view and will visit New York and Los Angeles.

Next Friday, June 24, Canelo-Golovkin will head to Hollywood, Florida, for a press conference, and then on Monday, June 27, the two will wrap up a brief tour in New York.

It was a short tour, but the promoters of the event, Matchroom Boxing, can believe that fans don’t need a longer tour to get them excited to see the super middleweight champion. Debatable Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs) and Golovkin meet for their trio.

The dark cloud surrounding the Canelo-Golovkin III fight were two controversial outcomes from the two’s first two showdowns, which saw Alvarez dodge two defeats with questionable scores. Both matches took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Another big negative about the trio is that it came right after Canelo’s one-sided defeat to WBA lightweight champion Dmitry Bivol on May 7. Canelo was defeated by the more talented Bivol, who defeated him in every aspect of the game, making the Mexican star look like an amateur.

After the battle, Canelo said that he would face Bivol in a rematch, which sounded crazy at the time. Still, it’s admirable how the former four-tournament world champion was willing to take out his conqueror in a second match in no time.

Sadly, instead of Canelo backing his word by going through a rematch with Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs), he chose what many boxing fans feel is the easy path. by choosing to fight 40-year-old Golovkin (42 years old). -1-1, 37 KOs), who has had better days and has only fought four times since 2018.

Ideally, on his part Canelo would seem more courageous if he showed faith by choosing to return to the battlefield with a better game plan to use against Bivol.

Even if Canelo loses again, fans will at least respect him for following his words about the rematch.

Bradley predicts an injury-time win for Canelo against GGG

“Canelo just lost. He’s a heavyweight guy. You don’t understand what that does for a boxer with so much pride like Canelo,” said Tim Bradley. Fighthypetalk about Alvarez’s recent loss to Dmitry Bivol.

“Canelo is returning to the drawing board. ‘I have to go back to what I used to do.’ He will be different. This fight with Bivol will make him better, it will make him mentally stronger and it will improve his game.

“I expected a better Canelo when he fought GGG, and I say again, he will stop him. If he didn’t stop him, he would seriously injure him,” Bradley said.
