Skoda Octavia scores 5 stars in Euro NCAP crash test

The Skoda Octavia earned five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test. The estate version of the Octavia was tested although the results also apply to the sedan version sold in the Indian market. Octavia scored 86% for adult protection, 84% for children, 68% for vulnerable road users and 81% for safety assistance systems.

The Octavia tested equipped with eight airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control and eight airbags. Furthermore, Octavia also has ADAS or Advanced Driver Support System which is not offered on the Indian version. The Octavia is equipped with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, a driver-set speed limiter and driver fatigue detection.

In India, the Skoda Octavia comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, for a maximum capacity of 187 horsepower at 4,180-6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1,500-3,990 rpm. It comes with a single 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that also features Tiptronic. Octavia is equipped with Shift by Wire and direct injection system.
The Octavia is being sold in two variants. There’s Style, Laurin and Klement. Style has a price $27.35 lakh (old gallery) while Laurin and Klement cost $30.45 lakh (old gallery). Currently Skoda Octavia has no direct competitor in the Indian market. However, in the global market, the Octavia goes head-to-head with the Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic.
The Octavia for India version is equipped with ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Multi-Collision Braking, Hill Hold Control, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Electromechanical Parking Brake with Auto Hold Function, Regulation Anti-slip, Electronic differential lock, Tire pressure monitoring system, Front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera with dynamic guidance and up to eight airbags.
