MANALI: The ski slopes of Solang valley in Manali All are ready for ski competitions and courses as the valley has received more than 120 cm of snow in the last 10 days.
Solang received more than 60cm of snow on Friday and then it got snow again overnight as people woke up to a thick layer of snow. Vehicles, shops, roads, houses and trees put on a thick white coat. The slopes are ready for skiing and snowboarding. Local ski clubs are preparing snow for the sport. Roads to the Solang and Atal tunnels were blocked in the morning but were later opened only to four-wheelers.

Himachal Pradesh Winter Games Association (HPWGA) is preparing the ski slopes for Skiing and Indian Ski Championship from January 26. Before, the slopes had no snow, but now the slopes are covered with a layer of good quality snow from 90 to 100cm thick.

The Border Roads Organization (BRO) is clearing snow on the Manali-Keylong-Darcha highway for general traffic. Meanwhile, an avalanche was recorded from near Lahaul’s Tholang village on Saturday. Snow clouds and ice particles spread over a large area for more than 10 minutes. Fortunately, no one was harmed in the incident. This is the third avalanche in Lahaul this winter.
