Six Share Furlong Bullet as OBS Under-Tack Show Conclusion

A sketchy show for the 2-year-old Ocala Farmer’s March sale, which was delayed twice due to weather, ended Sunday in Central Florida with six pups sharing the same drag period. The fastest time of the day is: 9 4/5 and three equals the fastest 1/4 mile time of the day is: 20 4/5.

The sketchy show opened as scheduled last Thursday morning, but the final performance of the day was pushed back by severe thunder storms in the area. The performance was finally set for Saturday, but worsening weather prompted sales staff to push the session back to Sunday.

“I think they did the best they could. A lot of it was out of their control,” said Ciaran Dunne of Wavertree Stables. “I think they did the right thing the first day when they called the last set. When people put a year’s work into something, you don’t want to walk in a rainstorm. We have a chance and that’s it. So I think they did the right thing. Given the fact that we had tornadoes yesterday, that was a good call. I think they did the best they could in that situation. ”

Despite the delay, Dunne said the song played fairly consistently throughout the three sessions of the lackluster show.

“From our perspective, I think the track has been consistent all three days based on how they train at home and how they prepare there,” he said. “All worked quite a bit more than expected. I don’t think anyone performed worse than we expected because of the condition of the track. “

Wavertree sent the bad show’s sixth minor to work : 9 4/5 when hip 437, a pony from the first crop of GI Met Mile winner Mor Spirit, hit that mark Sunday morning. Out of Follow My Tail (Indian Charlie), chestnuts were purchased by the Redwings pinhooking partnership for $160,000 during last July’s sale at Fasig-Tipton.

“It’s always been a prized horse,” says Dunne. “He is a man of good shape, a lovely horse. He’s always like that. Can’t believe he’ll do really well. But you are always pleasantly surprised when they go so well.”

Dunne also wooed Mor Spirit, buying him for $85,000 at the Fasig-Tipton sale in October 2014 before reselling him for $650,000 the following year at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale.

When asked if he saw any similarities between the two, Dunne said, “Nothing at all. Both are multi-court movers, but physically they’re very different.”

Another first plant breed represented by : 9 4/5 Working Sunday is Bolt d’Oro. Hips 438 was the third pony of a multi-class I winner to reach that mark in a show of lack of technique. Out of Foolish Cause (Giant’s Causeway), the dark flying pony was consigned by Top Line Sales and purchased by Gladwells’ Exclusive Equine Investments for $200,000 at Keeneland’s last September sale.

Hips 534a daughter of Shipman out of Kalistoga Girl (Tapit), covering her in : 9 4/5 for Cruzin’ Thoroughbreds and hip 631a pony of Goldencents raising Miss Hallie (Stormy Atlantic), working at : 9 4/5 to shipper Jose Munoz.

A pair of fry balanced the Sunday long bullet in the last game of the day. Hips 544Shackleford out of Key is to Win (Dixie Union) commissioned by Longoria Training & Sales, completed : 9 4/5 work before 4 p.m. Sunday. Hips 545a son of the Uncaptured out of Keyvacious (Teuflesberg) in trust by Hawk’s Rest LLC, became : 9 4/5 work about 15 minutes later.

Among the bullets : 20 4/5 a quarter mile Sunday is hip 446a pony of Violence winner of the Freedom Star classified stake (Street Cry {Ire}), who was deposited by Eddie Woods. Hips 456a pony from the first crop of graded multi-stake winner Awesome Slew out of Genau (Into Mischief), returned : 20 4/5 works for Ocala Stud.

Golden Rock Thoroughbreds Sent hip 521a pony of Into Mischief in addition to Jellicle Song (Street Cry {Ire}), to work in : 20 4/5.

A Bavarian pony (hip 139) became the fastest-running game of the under-tack : 9 3/5 in the first session of Thursday, while Adios Charlie (hip 213) has the fastest 1/4 mile of the week : 20 2/5 Friday.

The OBS March sale will kick off on Tuesday with a session that has been pushed back to a 1pm start time to make up for the delayed headwinds. The second and final session of the auction begins at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday
