Within hours of the brothers’ murder, hundreds of Jewish settlers stormed Hawara in revenge, burning dozens of cars and homes. Palestinian officials said Sameh Aqtash, 37, was shot dead by Israeli troops as soldiers entered their village with settlers, but the Israeli military said they were not involved. The Palestinian Health Ministry said more than 100 Palestinians were injured.
