The widow of Sean Micheline Roquebrune, 93, is said to have accompanied relatives on a private journey to scatter some of his ashes as it was his ‘last wish’ to return to his homeland.

She said after he passed away at their home in the Bahamas in 2020: ‘We’re bringing Sean back to Scotland – that was his last wish.

‘He wants his ashes scattered in the Bahamas and also in his homeland.’

Earlier this year, she added: ‘He is happiest on the golf course so as soon as we can travel we will go to Scotland as a family and bring Sean’s ashes.

‘I hope to beat them on a golf course in Scotland as he has always enjoyed playing there.’

Sir Sean’s actor son Jason is also said to have made the trip to Scotland to say goodbye to the 007 actor for the last time.

Jason, 59, said in March that they would likely choose St Andrews to scatter the ashes because his father was a member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club and regularly played the famous Old Course.

He said: ‘I have memories of always sunny St Andrews. Not so, but we had special times there.

The family pilgrimage to Scotland ended with a celebration of Sir Sean’s life at the Dalmeny estate near Edinburgh, the city where he was born and where he was later given liberty to the city in 1991. passed away at the age of 90 in October 2020.

‘I thought it was nice to see the old train and I felt like I was in some kind of movie scene.

“It’s all very secret because it’s all about Sir Sean’s final resting place.”

The group is evicted from the station in a flotilla of passenger trains, and then throws a birthday party in Sir Sean’s memory at the Tudor Gothic mansion in Dalmeny.

Saskia shared a touching photo of herself as a child with Sir Sean, with the words ‘Happy Birthday to my superstar.’

Sir Sean was born in Edinburgh on 25 August 1930, and grew up in Fountainbridge, and started out as a milkman before joining the Royal Navy.

He got his acting breakthrough in 1957 and became the first James Bond, playing the iconic secret agent in five films between 1962 and 1967.

His marriage to Jason’s son’s mother, Diane Cilento, ended in divorce in 1973, and he married Micheline, a French-Moroccan artist, in 1975.

He accepted a knighthood from the Queen in 2000 but is also a longtime supporter of Scottish Independence and a supporter of the SNP, despite having lived abroad for many years.

In a 2008 interview, Sir Sean said: ‘Scotland is my hometown and emotionally I have never left.’
