Sir Elton John will lead at next year’s Glastonbury Festival in his final UK performance of his final tour.

The Rocket Man singer will play the Pyramid Stage on the final night of the popular, sold-out event at Worthy Farm in Somerset, running from June 21-25, 2023.

Sir Elton said he “couldn’t be more excited” to be leading at Glastonbury 2023.

The star performed around the world as part of her Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour that began in September 2018 before being interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said: “As the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour draws to a close, there is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans.

“They have been outstanding and have supported me through all the ups and downs of my career.

“Every week I speak to new artists on my radio show, and Glastonbury is often considered a pivotal moment in launching their careers – the festival’s passionate, heartfelt support for the best emerging talent is something I have long admired.

“I’ve been talking to Emily Eavis about this for the past few weeks and I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the biggest festival in the world. It’s going to be incredibly emotional.”

Glastonbury co-host Emily Eavis said: “I’m delighted to inform you that the only Elton John will make his debut in Glastonbury, leading the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night next year.

“This will be the last UK performance of Elton’s last tour, so we’re closing the Festival and marking this momentous moment in both of our history with our mother. of all the mourners.

“We’re so excited to finally bring Rocket Man to Worthy Ranch!”
