EL PASO, Texas — Police in El Paso, Texas, say one person was killed and three others injured in Wednesday’s shooting at a shopping mall.
One person was taken into custody, police spokesman El Paso, Sgt. Robert Gomez said. No information was immediately released about that person.
“It’s too early to speculate on motives,” Gomez said.
Gomez said the three injured people were taken to the hospital. Their condition is not known.
Gomez said police believe the scene is safe and officers are scanning the entire mall to verify that.
Authorities have set up a reunion center at a nearby high school.
Wednesday’s shooting happened in a busy shopping area and across from a large parking lot from Walmart where 23 people killed in racist attack in 2019.
