Shingles is a viral infection that produces a rash. According to government figures: “One in five people with chickenpox develops shingles. “This means that every year in England and Wales, tens of thousands of people will contract shingles.” Because of the high number of diagnoses that occur each year, it’s essential to know the symptoms and when to call 111.
Since shingles develops into a skin rash, this is certainly where symptoms will begin to appear.
Specifically, with tingling or pain in an area of the skin.
Shingles can appear on any part of the body, from the most visible to the most intimate area.
As well as a tingling sensation in the skin, a headache will begin to develop or the patient may begin to feel unwell.

At this point, respondents must call 111 for advice on next steps.
A few days after the tingling started, the NHS warned that a rash would appear on the skin.
This rash will appear as spots on the skin and only on one side of the body.
The NHS says if the rash is on both sides it is unlikely to be shingles.

After getting shingles, the skin may still be sore, but it’s important that it gets better over time.
While you have shingles, try to stay away from certain groups to avoid infecting them with chickenpox.
This means avoiding groups such as pregnant women who have not had chickenpox before, which means people with weakened immune systems, and infants less than a month old.
One note, although someone can get chickenpox from someone who has shingles, they cannot get shingles from someone who has chickenpox.
