Shawn Porter’s Eubank Jr-Benn Surprise Prediction: “Too Explosive for Him”
Former two-time world champion turned boxing analyst, Shawn Porter, has had his say on the legacy battle between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn.
This match pitted the Eubank family against Benns for the first time since a bitter boxing rivalry in the ’90s between the two fathers.
We are now only a week away weight class match in London where Benn will move up to 157lb, while his opponent will go down – a much more difficult task.
Porter won his two world titles in the welterweight division, a natural for Conor Benn, and although most seem to believe Eubank’s size advantage will prove decisive,’ Showtime’ has another way.
Talking to IFL TV, Porter says:
“One guy’s trajectory is going up and the other, I wouldn’t say he’s going down and of course I’m talking about Chris Eubank Jr, but he’s definitely still in high form at the moment. this in his career.
So when you look at that and everything that Conor has been up to lately, you see him as a man who was supposed to be in this fight.
I think for Chris Eubank, this fight is a mental battle before it’s a physical one. I think if he can get very physical with Conor Benn who loves being physically in the ring, give him a taste of his own potion, face the fire – this could be a very interesting matchup. . “
He then went on to give his final prediction for the match.
However, I think from what I’ve seen from Conor Benn most recently, I think he’s too explosive, too fast and he’s going to be too strong for Chris Eubank.
The American had wanted to be part of the broadcast team for the event but was told it was “too British of a war” for a commentator from across the pond. The fight will be shown exclusively on DAZN pay-per-view for £19.99 in the UK.
