Shawn Porter Explains Why Jake Paul ‘Absolutely’ Beats Tommy Fury
Shawn Porter weighed in with his thoughts on last month’s clash between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia.
Former world champion Porter works on the ESPN commentary team at Diriyah Arena, where Fury survived the point deduction and was knocked out in the final round to win the decisive victory over Paulwho also docked a point.
However, Porter said Boxing ID after the fight that, contrary to the opinion of many, he believed that the wrong man had won the night.
“I’m not a referee, and I really don’t know how to calculate points when someone has been taken.”
“However, I’ve said it over and over again and that there are some key moments that both men can capitalize on.”
“I actually had Jake Paul win this fight. We actually saw Tommy win, which means we have a rematch. Even if Jake wins the fight, he should still fight Tommy Fury.”
“It’s probably the best boxing match possible for Jake at this point.”
When asked if the knockdown cemented Paul’s victory, Porter adamantly insisted it happened.
“Absolutely that’s what underpins it.”
Since then, ‘Problem Kid’ has confirmed that he intends to trigger the rematch clause in his contract, and there has been initial speculation that the pair could lock horns again in September. 7 years now.
Although respect was shown between the two young stars after the final bell, a level of trash talk reemerged, with Members of Team Fury begged Paul to pay for the ‘double or nothing’ bet that was agreed at the press conference.
The British have also been involved in money spins with Paul’s brother Logan, as well as UK influencer and rapper KSI.
