Shania Twain, 57 years old, has bravely shared how she coped with the trauma of being sexually and physically abused by her stepfather. The country singer details her experience with Sunday Times published on December 6, and during the conversation, she admitted to trying to flatten her breasts to avoid his attention.

Shania confessed: “I hid myself and I will flatten my breasts. “Because, my God, that’s horrible – you don’t want to be a girl in my house.”

That Don’t Impress Me Much singer was raised by her mother Sharon and stepfather Jerry Twain, who legally adopted her and her four siblings. She has detailed their difficult upbringing in the Ontario, Canada area many times before.

Shania had some strategies. She revealed: “I will wear bras that are too small for me. “And I will wear two, lower it until there are no more girls about me. Make it easier to go unnoticed.

Having to hide her body to protect herself confuses Shania as she grows up to be a teenager. She explains, “…Then you go into society and you’re a girl and you get other normal nasty stuff too, and that just reinforces that. So then you think, ‘Oh, I guess being a girl sucks. Oh, it’s goddamn to have breasts.’ I’m ashamed to be a girl.”

As the star gets older, she becomes her own and learns to embrace her femininity. “Suddenly it was like, ‘Well, what’s your problem? You know, you’re a woman and you have this gorgeous body'”, “Men! I Feel Like A Woman” the hit producer told time about her early days of fame. “What is so natural to others is terrifying to me. I feel taken advantage of, but now I have no choice.”

For Shania, it has become a part. “I had to play the glamorous singer, to express my femininity more openly or more freely,” she said. “And find a way to keep me from being groped, or fucked in someone’s eyes, you know, and feeling so vile.”
