Shakur Stevenson Defends Oscar Valdez From His Discrediting Critics
Via Sean Jones: Shakur Stevenson came to Oscar Valdez’s defense on Monday, telling fans to “don’t discredit him” after last Saturday night’s loss in Las Vegas.
People have called former two-division world champion Valdez (30-1, 23 KOs) a “bastard” due to the way Shakur (18-0.9 KOs) beat him in the main match. them last Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

“I see that he has weak software with Valdez. I never knew he had a soft side, but I saw it tonight. You only have one life. You have to enjoy the moment, have fun and I told myself I’m going to have fun, smile through everything and we’ll get through this.
“I deserve it,” Shakur said of his deserved name on the weight list. “Put me in the top 10, top 5, wherever you want. I deserve it. I went there and fought Jamel Herring, and then I fought Oscar Valdez head-to-head. I feel like I deserve every pound.
“Because of the crowd because I walked out and they booed me. I like, okay, and I have to shut up. Once I shut them down, I have to let them know like, ‘Shh.’
“Whether they hate me or not, I love them. Nothing but respect, and I love that they come out to support me and support Valdez. I don’t have bad feelings for them. I just wanted to silence them,” Stevenson said.
