Sergio Gomez: Man City agree £11m deal to sign left-back Anderlecht | Football news

Manchester City have agreed a £11m (£13m) deal with Anderlecht to sign left-back Sergio Gomez.
The 21-year-old is considered a developing player by Man City, and plans to loan him to one of City Group’s other clubs.
It is not out of the question that he will join Pep Guardiola’s first team this season – but City remain focused on alternative targets for the first team.
Gomez came into the sights of Man City as they were pursuing a contract with Marc Cucurella, who eventually signed for Chelsea.
Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro is a player the Premier League champions are keen on.
The 28-year-old Portugal international is one of the potential first-team options the club are considering.
Guerreiro has made 189 appearances for Dortmund, scoring 34 goals and assisting 37, since joining in 2016.
A source said Sky Sports News Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa is also on Man City’s list. But another source said he is not currently being considered.
Pep: Silva’s future is out of my control
Guardiola insists he wants Bernardo Silva to stay at Manchester City but admits the decision is out of his control amid Barcelona’s interest.
Portugal international Silva played an integral role in City’s defense of the Premier League title last season despite being linked with a move to the Nou Camp the previous summer.
Speculation has surfaced this summer and Guardiola admits he is in the dark about Silva’s future at the club following the departures of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from the Etihad Stadium.
“I feel comfortable working with Oleks [Zinchenko]Gabriel (Jesus) and Raheem (Sterling) for three incredible years, [they were] incredible characters that have helped us achieve,” said the City boss.
“But, in the end, sometimes the club, sometimes the player, sometimes the agent, many reasons, sometimes you have to split our paths.
“I’ve said many times that a player’s desire is the most important thing; I want everyone here to be happy and try to do it together. Of course, I would love for Bernardo to continue here, he is. is a special player in the dressing room for me, but I don’t know what will happen, to be honest, I don’t know.
“What’s going to happen is and if he stays it’s perfect, and if he has to leave it’s because football is like this, clubs have agreements, players have wishes, and I’m not the one to stop People’s wishes.
“When you’re a footballer, it’s short, you don’t realize, it’s over immediately. I don’t want to stop a player’s desire, but at the same time, I’m just a small part of the sentence. the club, you have to talk to the club. I’ve never been involved in that, and what the club decided for me was OK.”
Guardiola reaffirmed his stance on Silva’s future when pressed for his uncertain answer, adding: “I want the best for the players, but I want Bernardo to stay, for sure. 100% sure, I want him to stay here.
“But at the same time, if you want to leave and have an offer and the clubs have an agreement, what I have said is common sense, it’s nothing special, this is reality.
“He’s an important player for me, Bernardo is special. I don’t know what will happen. As far as Manchester City know, we didn’t receive any offers last season either. this is what i can say. Bernardo is ready, he is training very well, he is ready for Sunday and that’s it.”
