MANILA, Philippines—South Korean basketball team Seoul Samsung Thunders is reported to have terminated Justine Baltazar’s contract.
According to the Korean publication Jumpball, the team was unable to contact Baltazar in time for the player registration deadline of February 1.
“Samsung has finally decided to terminate the contract,” the story reads.
Baltazar, who signed with the Thunders last month, recently competed at the Dubai International Basketball Championship as a member of Strong Group-Philippines, which ended its campaign by reaching the quarterfinals. ends on Friday.
The 6-foot-9 striker has emerged since playing his final UAAP season with La Salle last May during UAAP Season 84.
He initially announced his participation in the PBA Draft but withdrew his application at the last minute to join the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the Japan B.League.
However, Baltazar, 25, did not last long in Japan when he and Hiroshima split in December.
