Joe Peacock, of Jr. Senor Buscador (Mineshaft), who earned a spot in the field for next Saturday’s GI BigAss Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile through his mild disappointment during GIII Ack Ack S. at Churchill Downs October 1, has adjusts to that engagement with a ‘solid’ five-year stint in the company of his stable companion affiliated with the GII Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, Sheriff Brown (Curlin) below driver Francisco Arrieta at Keeneland on Thursday morning.
“We got what we wanted,” coach Todd Fincher said. “Senor Buscador started about six legs back and got to the goal a little faster and caught up to three-eighths. He waited a bit not wanting to go too fast and actually started working at the quadrant pole.”
Fincher surmised that Senor Buscador, who had completed three long stretches before his company, covered his last three feathers from the eighth pole to the three-quarter pole at:34 and change.
“Sheriff Brown is better with a target, but he’s the one being hunted down today,” said Fincher, GI Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint winner, Slammed (Ticket) contestant. on Friday morning.
Also on the Thursday morning tab is Spicy chili pepper (Khozan) who went on his own 5 clamps in 1:02.20 in: 12.60, :24.80, :38 and 3/4 in 1:16. Family Road (Uncle Mo), which competed in GI Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, went five eighths in 1:00.80, the fastest of the seven at the distance on Thursday morning.
