MANILA, Philippines — The Senate passed three resolutions on Tuesday praising bowling legend Paeng Nepomuceno, chess prodigy Bince Operiano, and world jiu jitsu champion Aleia Aguilar.
Senate President Joel Villanueva sponsored three resolutions in plenary session.
The Senate passed Senate Resolutions 287 and 295 or resolutions recognizing and congratulating Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno for his outstanding performance at the Asian Senior Championships.
Scored 1,234 pins in 16 . day Asian Senior Men’s Singles Championship 65+ in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepomuceno won the gold medal.
Resolutions 285 and 293 of the Senate or resolutions congratulating and commending chess prodigy Bince Rafael Operiano for winning the 6th East Asian Youth Chess Championship in Bangkok, Thailand were also passed.
The nine-year-old chess wizard beat 29 other players in East Asian Youth Championship Standard Rapid Blitz (category under 10 years old).
The Senate also passed Senate Resolutions 286, 294 and 318 or resolutions recognizing and congratulating Aleia. Aielle Aguilar for her outstanding performance at the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
Aguilar, the youngest world jiu-jitsu champion at the age of 5, won a gold medal in the 16 kg-B white belt for 1 girls, defeating Gabriela Vercosa of Brazil in the final round.
Aleia is the son of Alvin Aguilar, the founder of Philippine mixed martial arts and an Asian champion in Tokyo.
All senators co-authored resolutions.
