Bungie has revealed the first artwork from Destiny 2’s upcoming Season 21, called Season of the Deep. That provides an interesting first look at what awaits, both in terms of story and seasonal armor, but the art comes with some other very notable details regarding the purchase of Exotic gear. and Peak rewards.
In terms of artwork, you can check out the first image from Season of the Deep below, as shared in the latest This week at Bungie. One of Lightfall quest teases where anything can happen in the story, it is hinted that we will return to Titan (one of the locations that has been hidden for over a year) in search of the Witness’s enemies. Art can give a glimpse of that enemy, as Titan is known to be home to some kind of giant creature in the deep sea. We also see what definitely looks to be Sloane, the Titan supplier and an important character in the story, who has also MIA since Titan went missing. Notably, she seems to have a Taken-style look on her arms.
Additionally, we can also take a look at the new aquatic themed armor for Hunters, Giants, and Wizards that we’ll likely get as part of Season of the Deep season tickets and activities accompanying seasonal movements.
Perhaps even more notable are some of the major system changes (or lack thereof) coming in Season of the Deep. As previously announced, Bungie will Are not increase the game’s Strength limit, as usual every season. That means if you’ve reached the Peak limit, you’ll still be there when Season 21 begins. And if you’re not there, you might want to get to work now, as Bungie is removing some of the available Peak drop giveaways each week.
But that’s for good reason, besides the new system will let you get the specific Exotics you want, Bungie will increase the Exotic drop. As Pinnacles become less valuable–things at the Pinnacle limit have no real effect on them, except as infusion fodder–Bungie will update weekly challenges to complete a certain activities on an evergreen ritual playlist (Vanguard, Crucible and Gambit) so they now reward you with a Powerful Strange Engram instead of Peak. These engravings can be centralized through the new system, allowing you to easily obtain the desired scrolls for Exotic armor you already own, or you can simply decipher them to receive a gift. Random Exotics.
This means that by completing those weekly challenges, you will receive three of these Strange carvings each week for each character (maximum nine in total). These engravings can also be obtained from random world drops, from season tickets (six from the paid track and two from the free track) and from the vendor reputation tracks.
“But yeah, you’re going to lose some climax drops, so reaching the Peak is a bit slower for everyone,” explains Bungie. “We expect peak drop demand to continue in the following Seasons, but we’ll take feedback and analysis into consideration, and stand ready to make adjustments as needed!”
Many other changes are coming as part of Season of the Deep, including a new means of obtaining weapon crafting samples, ways to improve your old raid exotic weapon protectionAnd New yarn aspect. The new season premieres on May 23.
