Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs: Video appeared of the rap mogul beating his girlfriend Cassie in 2016
When he caught up with her, he grabbed her and threw her to the floor, causing her to drop some of her luggage.
He kicked her as she lay on the ground, before picking up her handbag and kicking her a second time before trying to pull her shirt off.
The attacker was seen leaving briefly before returning and shoving Miss Ventura as she stood up. He then sat in a chair near the elevator and threw an object.
R&B singer Ventura’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, said in a statement: “This heartbreaking video further confirms Mr. Combs’ harassing and exploitative behavior.
“Words cannot describe the courage and strength Ms. Ventura demonstrated in bringing this incident to light.”
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that the attack captured on video may be too old to prosecute.
“We find these images extremely disturbing and difficult to view,” the agency said in a statement.
“If the conduct described had occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would not have been able to press charges as it would have occurred outside the time limit within which the offense of assault could be prosecuted.”
In a federal lawsuit now settled last year, Ms. Ventura alleged that “around March 2016” Mr. Combs “became extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, causing her to suffer a black eye.” .
“After he fell asleep, Ms. Ventura attempted to leave the hotel room, but as she was leaving, Mr. Combs woke up and began screaming at Ms. Ventura.
“He followed her into the hotel hallway and scolded her. He grabbed her, then took a glass vase from the hallway and threw it at her, causing the glass to break all around her as she ran into the elevator to escape,” the documents said.
The lawsuit alleges that the rap mogul bought the footage from the hotel for $50,000 (£39,000).
Her legal case against Mr. Combs, who accused him of rape and sex trafficking over a decade, was settled for an undisclosed amount a day after the suit was filed on November last year.
Mr. Combs’ lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, said at the time that the settlement made “no admission of wrongdoing.”
“Mr. Combs’ decision to settle the lawsuit in no way undermines his categorical denial of the claims. He is pleased that they have reached a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.”
Since then, several other women have filed sexual misconduct lawsuits against the rapper.
His homes in Los Angeles and Miami, Florida, were raided last month as part of a federal investigation into human trafficking.
Ms. Ventura officially signed to Mr. Combs’ Bad Boy record label and released several hits in the 2000s, including songs featuring Diddy.
Her most famous songs include Me & U, Long Way to Go and Official Girl, which features Lil Wayne.
