The order was delivered by a bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao, BR Gavai and AS Bopanna.
On May 17, the Supreme Court reserved the temporary bail order of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in a case involving Kotwali police station in Uttar Pradesh.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the state of Uttar Pradesh, objected to Azam Khan’s plea.
The Supreme Court had earlier expressed displeasure with the lengthy delay in the sentencing of Allahabad HC on Azam Khan’s bail application and called it a ‘betrayal of justice’. .
Last week, the Allahabad high court granted Azam Khan temporary bail in a case involving illegal possession of land.

Azam Khan has been placed in judicial custody in another matter involving Kotwali in Rampur.
Khan has been incarcerated in Sitapur prison since February 2020 because of the cases registered against him.
