SBP ramps up planning for Fiba World Cup hosting

MANILA, Philippines – Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) reaffirms its commitment to successfully hosting the 2023 Fiba World Cup.

To ensure that, SBP is ramping up preparations for co-hosting the most prestigious basketball meeting in the country following the completion of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) strategic planning session.

Al Panlilio, head of SBP, said: “Having this session has helped us create concrete and contingency plans for hosting the World Cup.” “It also shows how committed we are to not only giving the world a great show, but being polite hosts to our visitors.”

“The FIBA ​​World Cup is not just another event because it is the biggest tournament in World Basketball. We will devote all our efforts and resources to prove to the world that the Philippines can host and host the biggest sporting events in the world,” said SBP Honorary President Manny V. The meeting formalized the completion of the LOC with a gathering of individuals, all experts in their respective fields, working closely together to host the best World Cup in history.

In ongoing coordination with the Fiba Office in Geneva, Switzerland, LOC has outlined plans and requirements for all three major divisions, in particular Operations, Support and the FIBA ​​World Congress.

Ramon Suzara, author and lead executor of Fiba’s 2023 World Basketball Master Plan, introduced the rationale and core concepts of this commitment, while deputy director Erika Dy event discusses vision, mission and goals.

Japan and Indonesia are also co-hosts of the World Cup that will be held from August 25 to September 10 next year.

SBP executive advisor to president Ricky Vargas said: “It’s not just about SBP because every Filipino is a part of it. “We hope that in the construction of the World Cup, each Filipino will join hands to welcome our guests and help us introduce the value of ‘Bayanihan’ to the world.”
