SBI users, government wants you to delete this SMS immediately


State Bank of India Users, the government has an important fake alert for you. The advice has been issued by the government agency PIB. Department of Press Information or PIB is the Indian government’s focal point for disseminating information to print and electronic media about government policies, programmes, initiatives and achievements. The agency requested SBI . users do not respond to SMS and calls claiming that their bank account is locked. It also asks SBI customers not to click on any links in messages claiming their bank accounts have been frozen.
“A notice is circulating claiming that your @TheOfficialSBI account has been locked as #FAKE,” a tweet from PIB said. The tweet also contained an image of such a fake SMS. It also asks the user to:
* Do not respond to emails/SMS asking to share your personal or banking details.
* If you receive any such notice, report it immediately at [email protected]
What the fake SMS asks SBI users to do
PIB tweets sharing an image of a fake SMS being circulated. This is what the phishing SMS text says: “Dear A/c SBI BANK Expired documents A/c will be blocked immediately Click https://sbikvs.ll Update by Net Banking ”

This is not the first time such fake SMS messages have been found circulating. In March of this year, some SBI users reported receiving an SMS notifying that their SBI had been suspended for non-compliance. RBI‘S KYC quota. “Dear customer, your SBI Bank account has been suspended for KYC, please complete your KYC in 10 minutes immediately by clicking this link.” The country’s largest bank has issued a warning to customers against this SMS scam.
