Sawan Kumar Tak passes away at 86 | Hindi Movie News
Sawaan Kumar Tak, director, producer, writer and lyricist behind some Bollywood blockbuster, passed away today. Sawan Kumar’s nephew Navin Kumar Tak confirmed to ETimes that the veteran singer took his last breath at a hospital in Mumbai at 4pm today. He has heart failure and lung related diseases. The famous artist has been in critical condition since the past few days and is being treated in the intensive care unit of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Details of his funeral are awaited.
Sawan Kumar marks his directorial debut with ‘Gomti Ke Kinare’. The film was released in 1972 and featured Meena Kumari and Mumtaz in the lead roles. As a filmmaker, he introduced talented actors like Sanjeev Kumar and Mehmood Junior aka Naeem Sayyed into the industry. He produced ‘Naunihal’ on the tightest budget, but the film was mentioned for the President at the National Awards. ‘Naunihal’ is also Sanjeev Kumar’s debut Bollywood film.
Sawaan Kumar Tak has worked in movies like “Sanam Bewafa”, “Souten” and “Sajan Bina Suhagan”.
