SAS Australia: Head Coach Ant Middleton spotted at Sydney Airport

Can SAS Australia return to the small screen?

Despite stellar ratings earlier this year, the grueling military-style reality show looks set to kick off another season on Channel Seven, after lead showrunner Ant Middleton was spotted at the Airport Sydney on Monday.

The former England coach, 41, had just flown in from Perth when he spotted a familiar paparazzo and gave him a knowing look.

Ant displayed a casual look as he passed Sydney’s domestic terminal.

At one stage, he closed his eyes to the photographer and waved his finger.

The witnessing comes just hours after Ant posted a cryptic tweet hinting at a possible return to Aussie television.

“Thank you Perth… Sydney here I come baby!” he wrote, adding the hashtag #guesswhosback.

The third season of SAS Australia has had a rough start to 2022, especially when compared to previous years.

The opening episode attracted 467,000 viewers on the metro. In contrast, the 2021 season debut had 647,000 viewers.

The premiere of season one recorded almost double that of season three, reaching a whopping 834,000 viewers in five major cities.

But despite the drop in ratings, SAS Australia still won the Logie Award for Favorite Reality Show this year.

It’s up against The Block (Nine), The Famous Apprentice (Nine), I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of here! (Channel 10), MAFS (Nine) and MasterChef (Channel 10).

The winners of this year’s season of SAS Australia are NRL star Darius Boyd, NRLW athlete Millie Boyle and motorsport presenter Riana Crehan.
