Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders will deliver the GOP response to President Biden’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday.
Notice given by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday.
McCarthy said “everyone, including President Biden, should listen carefully” to her comments that will come after Biden’s speech next week.
McCarthy said in a statement, “She is a servant leader with true determination and conviction. I’m thrilled that Sarah will share her extraordinary story and bold vision for America. better on Tuesday”.
Sanders, 40, elected governor in November. She was the first woman elected to lead a solid Republican state. But she is not new to politics.
She is a former White House press secretary to President Donald Trump and the daughter of two-term Arkansas Governor-turned political commentator Mike Huckabee.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity to speak to the nation and contrast this optimistic vision of the Republican Party’s future with the failures of President Biden and the Democrats. We’re ready to get started. a new chapter in America’s story – will be written by a new generation of leaders ready to defend our freedom against the radical left and expand access to quality education, jobs and opportunities for everyone,” she said.
Also tapped to deliver the GOP’s rebuttal was Congressman Juan Ciscomani of Arizona, who will deliver the speech in Spanish.
“As many of you know, the story of Juan — who immigrated to America at age 11 — and his father drove a bus in Tuscon, Ariz,” says McCarthy. This is also a true American story.
The Federal response in Spanish at last given by Texas’ Rep. Veronica Escobar in 2020.
