Record-breaking global drought this year has dried up rivers and reservoirs, and robbed the world of the world’s largest source of renewable electricity: hydroelectricity.
The drop in electricity is generated by the flow of water through dams in China, Europe and the US restrained electricity production. In some places, it closed factories and smelters for weeks at a time.
