Today’s smartphones are more than just communication devices. They carry some of our most valuable information, including personal IDs; Financial details; location and health data; private and professional conversations; use the app and much more. While this data may vary from user to user, some of this data is bound to be on every smartphone user’s phone.
This proliferation of smartphones has also made hackers aware that these devices can act as hotspots for users’ identities, finances, and personal accounts. This makes them more vulnerable to attacks on mobile devices through malware, phishing, and other malicious techniques. That’s why it’s become so important to keep smartphone data safe and secure. SAMSUNGVice President and Head of Security, Dr. Seungwon Shin, recently spoke about the company’s commitment to smartphone data security during a media roundtable.
“At Samsung, security is at the heart of every decision we make, from the moment we start planning a new product to the moment it hits the shelves. We advocate openness, because keeping everyone locked in a closed ecosystem. Openness doesn’t” doesn’t put us at greater risk. It makes us stronger and provides the best, safest experience possible. And we know very well that the only way openness works is to gain people’s trust. To keep them safe every step of the way, Shin said.
‘Start with security’
Shin says that there can be no privacy without strong security. “The only way to really protect our users’ privacy is to make sure their data never falls into the wrong hands. That’s why everything we do is to keep them safe. and their information, and why we are constantly innovating and partnering with companies, and added Shin.
He then talked about how Samsung works with different companies to enhance users’ digital experiences. “Samsung believes in the power of collaboration and is leading the industry in creating secure digital experiences by partnering with trusted companies like Google, chipset makers and mobile operators. to create the highest possible standards of security and ensure our users receive security updates as quickly as possible,” he added. For those who don’t know, Samsung currently offers four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrade for some Galaxy devices.
Knox, TEEGris and “Security for All”
Shin then went on to talk about how Samsung ties the security of its software and apps to the device’s hardware. For example, he talks about Samsung’s Knox security solution. “Know started as an enterprise security solution and quickly evolved into a comprehensive defense-grade security platform that provides true end-to-end protection throughout the product lifecycle,” he said. us, for both consumers and businesses.” “Knox Vault provides an extra layer of protection for important information such as biometric validators and cryptographic keys. It combines Safe processor with a new Secure Memory Chip to isolate sensitive data from the rest of the device, including its operating system, to never fall into the wrong hands. “Shin also mentioned TEEGris, a secure operating system that the company claims allows partners to use hardware cryptography, encryption, and access control for a secure app experience.
While concluding the roundtable, Shin had an important message for Samsung device users: “Samsung’s responsibility to protect consumers doesn’t end when the device is in their hands. We provide it for them. control their data with a Privacy Dashboard that gives them complete visibility into who has access to their data and how it is being used and allows them to share personal information. on their own terms with Private Sharing.” as the comment concluded.
