Samsung Galaxy S23 leak reveals another spec upgrade for 2023
It’s been a busy few days for SamsungGalaxy S23 leaks, but we’re not done yet: the latest from the rumor mill is that the three models in the range will come with internal storage options starting at 256GB, up from 128GB in 2016. last.
This comes from the usual tip Ahmed Qwalder (opens in a new tab) (via Sammobile (opens in a new tab)), who also predicts that the Ultra model will be available with 512GB and 1TB of internal storage. From this source at least, there is no mention of higher options on the Standard and Plus models.
We also mention 8GB RAM for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus and 12GB RAM for the Galaxy S23 Ultra – although previous leak pointed out a version of the Ultra phone with 8GB of RAM is also in production.
Configuration options
The Galaxy S22 available with 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage, as well as Galaxy S22 Plus. When it comes to Galaxy S22 Ultrait’s available with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB storage, giving you the most configuration options.
From this latest leak, it looks like the 128GB starting option will be removed for all three phones – with no other options added. 8GB RAM (with a 12GB option on the Ultra) will also fit in the 2022 phone.
So while it’s technically an upgrade – and possibly a free upgrade, if the starting price of the Galaxy S23 phones is the same as that of their predecessors – Samsung is reducing the numbers. variant will be available for this product line this year.
Analysis: internal memory is still important
Since so many apps use streaming technology these days, internal storage options probably aren’t as important as they used to be – what happens with NetflixSpotify and the rest get all their content from the cloud instead of your actual smartphone.
However, there are still cases where the more storage space the better, especially as apps like Netflix and Spotify can store video and audio offline for times when you don’t have Wi-Fi. Then there are podcasts, photos and videos that you take yourself, and apps and games that keep getting bigger and more complex.
In short, 128GB starts a little low for a starting configuration on a modern phone, although that’s where many of them start. This year could be the year that 256GB or more becomes the standard – although considering Apple still offers 64GB as recently as iPhone 12″It may take a while to catch up.
We still look forward to the days when phones have memory card slots, allowing users to add more storage when needed. That option is largely gone now, but the boost to 256GB for the Galaxy S23 would be welcome – as long as the price is right.
