Sachin pilot solo campaign worries Parliament ahead of Rajasthan election

Sachin Pilot is said to have plans to go to predominantly Jat . areas

Jaipur:

The Sachin Pilot’s plan of protests across Rajasthan could restart controversy in the state unit of Parliament as it approaches an election now only 10 months away.

From next week, Sachin Pilot will speak to farmers and youth in a series of public meetings.

Reports suggest Mr Pilot has decided to launch his solo campaign as a pressure tactic over the unresolved leadership struggle that is still raging despite a successful Bharat Jodo Yatra season. public in Rajasthan.

But sources close to Mr Pilot denied reports of an “ultimate ultimatum” and said his move was to reach out more to people, especially young people and farmers, to keep the mania going. Chalk continues to pursue Bharat Jodo Yatra and does not let its energy run out before the election assembly takes place at the end of the year.

Observers say it was also Pilot Sachin’s political calculation to stay relevant in Rajasthan politics, as State Parliament speaker Govind Singh Dotasara was busy with grassroots organizational work and the ministry. Chief Ashok Gehlot handles his final budget himself.

Sources said Mr Pilot’s outreach was aimed at “keeping the party relevant and active during an election year”.

The former Deputy Minister is said to have plans to travel to predominantly Jat areas to ensure that the party is not wiped out like it was in 2003 or 2013.

A leader close to Pilot said: “The BJP has been actively campaigning and we cannot be seen as idle.

Although sources said Mr. Pilot’s campaign had been approved by Mr. Gandhi, they added that he had not yet sought permission from the All India Congress Committee (AICC). “At this level, is it necessary as a leader of the state,” the sources asked.

Parliament is still facing public controversy following Mr Gehlot’s explosive comments calling his former deputy a “gaddar (traitor)”.

“A gaddar (traitor) cannot be a Minister. Supreme Command cannot appoint Pilot Sachin as Chief… a man without 10 MLA. Who rebelled. He betrayed. a traitor, (he) is a traitor,” Mr. Gehlot said of his young opponent.

The Gehlot-Pilot rivalry started when both competed for the position of Minister after the victory in Rajasthan by Parliament in 2018 and culminated when in 2020, Mr Pilot revolted with 20 MLA supporters. he and camped in Delhi for several weeks.

The uprising ended after the Gandhis assured Mr Pilot of the changes that never materialized, with Mr Gehlot refusing to give in. The feud has gone awry without any resolution since then.

Jairam Ramesh of the National Assembly said today that the new party chairman Mallikarjun Kharge is looking for a solution that benefits the party organization. “Organization is paramount. Leaders come and go, but even Rahul ji said that both Ashok Gehlot and Pilot Sachin are party assets,” he said.
