Ryan Garcia’s talent will show “once he’s tested” says Andy Ruiz

Via Jim Calfa: Andy Ruiz expects big things from lightweight contender Ryan Garcia as he is “tested” by the best fighters in the 135-lb category.

Ryan (22-0, 18 KOs) hasn’t been able to show fans what he’s got as he’s still in the early stages of his career. Next week, Ryan will have his first real test against driver Javier Fortuna on July 16 at Crypto Arena in Los Angeles.

This fight will allow Ryan to shift gears and show the boxing world what he can do against a former Fortuna world champion (36-3-1.25 KOs) in the main event on DAZN.

Like many boxers, 23-year-old Ryan is still training his way as a middle school martial artist, and learning along the way.

“The best man wins on September 4th. I know he’s working hard and I’m working hard,” Andy Ruiz told Fighthype about his upcoming fight against Luis Ortiz.

Ryan [Garcia]once he’s checked in with good people, I think Ryan’s talent will be shown more because Ryan is very good. I know his argument with Canelo was bullshit.

“Like I said, I’m in my own lane. I don’t like talking about anything. Gym [Eddy Reynoso] good. It doesn’t mean I won’t come back or anything like that. I have love for all of them.

“They never showed me disrespect or nothing, and I have loved Eddy and Canelo all the way. I don’t know with Ryan. They are all in their own little world. Ryan doesn’t need anyone. He has his own little team, and he has talent,” Ruiz said of Ryan Garcia.

“I know he can say a lot of things, but I don’t talk nonsense about anyone, man. Even those I don’t fight, I don’t say anything,” Ruiz said. “I stay in my own lane and focus on me,” says Ruiz.

Ryan and Canelo Alvarez recently exchanged words after the Mexican star criticized his work ethic when they both practiced in the same gym. It’s not a big deal.

“I am not joking. ‘Oh, I’ll fuck him. I will do this, that. ‘ I don’t like it,” Ruiz said.

“I think I’m better at fighting taller guys. For some reason, I’m better at it. Arreola is one of the shortest guys I’ve fought. It’s hard to fight the Mexicans because they don’t give up.

“It was a good match,” Ruiz said of the fight between Gervonta ‘The Tank’ Davis and Rolando ‘kt Rolly’ Romero. “I think he should have boxed it up and let him come to him.

“He [Rolly] opens up too much, and I know that’s when he’ll counterattack and get him. You always have to be cautious because you have to expect something to come back, especially with these lefties.

“That’s exactly what I had to do on September 4th [against southpaw Luis Ortiz]. Be cautious and do my thing,” Ruiz said.
