Ryan Garcia looks set to take part in one of the games of the year once negotiations over his match with Gervonta Davis are complete.
Despite the positive announcementsGarcia accused the ‘Tank’ team of ‘messing with him’ during the preparations for the battle, but reassured fans that he was unaffected by any mind games.
‘KingRy’ has had public mental health issues over the past few years and Davis’ team continues to question whether he is mentally fit to compete at the sport’s elite level.
More, ‘Tank’ accuses Garcia of using steroids in a recent clip after Garcia canceled his temporary fight.
In one Interview with The MMA HourGarcia told Ariel Helwani that he believes Davis’ team is giving him a reason to leave the fight.
“After my fight with [Javier] Fortuna, they are questioning whether the war will happen, and I said if there is a will there is a way and I want to keep my promise.
I refused to let the fight go, even though I got through and I have many ways of saying they were messing with me too much, which you could argue they did.
But guess what? I told myself that I was willing to sacrifice everything that I had to do, to let this fight go and I would do it and I would win.”
“I just think they’re trying to give me ways to say ‘damn, I’m not going through all this,’ especially with the weight and the changing dates, trying to stretch my inactivity time.
All of this is just a game, say I’m on steroids, I see all the tricks. They don’t know who they’re messing with, my mentality is strong, believe it or not.”
The absence of an adjustment fight for Garcia means he will be out of action for nine months before the tournament. battle day of April 15.
While, ‘The Tank’ clinched his 26th knockout of his 28 wins when he stopped Hector Luis Garcia on January 7th.
