Russia stops oil from flowing through pipeline to Central, Eastern Europe
Russian oil has stopped flowing through a pipeline supplying countries in Central and Eastern Europe, dealing another blow to a region facing the loss of vital energy supplies from Russia.
Transneft PJSC, the government-owned oil pipeline operator, said on Tuesday that crude oil exports through the territory of Ukraine paused on August 4. It blamed payment difficulties caused by Western sanctions against Moscow and said the Ukrainian pipeline operator had refused to ship crude oil after failing to receive the money.
