Russia attacked five railway stations in central and western Ukraine, the head of Ukraine’s national railways said
Oleksandr Kamyshin, Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia – Ukraine’s national railway company – said on Monday that Russian forces had attacked five railway stations in central and western Ukraine.
“The Russian military continues to systematically destroy railway infrastructure,” he said in a statement. “This morning, within an hour, five railway stations in central and western Ukraine were attacked.”
Kamyshin said at least 16 passenger trains will be organized. He added that there had been casualties, but did not provide specifics.
In a separate statement, Ukrzaliznytsia said it had no power over the Shepetivka – Koziatyn, Zhmerynka – Koziatyn and Koziatyn – Fastiv routes, forcing a delay.
Maksym Kozytskyy, the head of the Lviv regional military administration, gave details earlier on Monday about a Russian attack that damaged a railway station in western Ukraine.
“Today, at about 08:30 am on April 25, as a result of a missile attack, an explosion occurred at a substation of the Krasne railway station,” he said. “State Emergency Services units are working on the scene and putting out the fire.”
Kozytskyy said there were no reports of casualties during this period.
According to Kozytskyy, one of the incoming weapons was shot down by anti-aircraft missile soldiers of the Western Air Defense Command of the Ukrainian Air Force. He said the missiles were launched into Ukraine from the southeast, adding that Russian forces may have launched them from strategic bombers.
