Rulership Colt gives opponents ‘more’ than they can handle in the Royal Cup

Concluding the August 20th 1500m runner’s victory in Sapporo, Dolce More (Jpn) (Rulership {Jpn}) submit to the longtime leader Granite (Jpn) (Danon Ballad {Jpn}) to win the G3 Saudi Arabia Royal Cup in Tokyo on Saturday.

Driven out of the yard as a 5-1 second pick, the pony settled in an ideal perch, as the 39-1 long Granite ran away from the yard, discovering they were at least 10 lengths. However, his lead is starting to look shaky with 400 yards remaining, and Dolce More is edging ahead of his arch-rival with every stride. Five jumps from the rope, the lead succumbed to Dolce More’s determined rally, and the margin on the rope was 1 1/4 of the length. Third pick 7-1, Silver Duke (Jpn) (Silver State {Jpn}) sits in third for the entire run and maintains that finishing position, 1/2 length from Granite 2. Favorite Nocking Point (Jpn) (Maurice {Jpn}), who got 40 cents on the dollar, closed from near the back of the pack to take fourth place, a long back.

Genealogical Notes

King Kamehameha (Jpn) the Rulership horse, who won the Queen Elizabeth II G1 Trophy, now has 25 stake winners (16 pools) to his name, with a winner’s win on Saturday. The fourth pony and third winner produced by G1 heroine Ayusan (Jpn) of G1 Oka Sho (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), Dolce More has a half brother with Rey De Oro (Jpn) born this spring. Ayusan is the half-sister to two-time bet winner Saki To Me (Fusaichi Pegasus), and the third half-sister of G1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies (Deep Impact {Jpn}) Mau Lea (Jpn). . The third dam Buy The Firm (Confirmed) won GI Top Flight H., while also throwing GIII hero Ben Ali S. Storm Broker (Storm Cat) and French listed scorer Royal Arrow (Dayjur) in her group of winners.
