CAIRO: Young Rudrankksh Patil on friday won gold in south Air rifle 10m at the ISSF world championship here, becoming the second Indian to achieve the feat after the legendary Abhinav Bindra.
Patil also guarantees a year 2024 Paris Olympics quota for the country in the process. This is the second time of India Olympic Quota.
The 18-year-old Rudrankksh beat Italy’s Danilo Dennis Sollazzo 17-13 in the gold medal match after a brilliant effort from behind.

Four quota points are available in the Olympic events at this year’s World Championships.
India won its first quota at the recent World Handgun Championships in Croatia, courtesy of Bhowneesh Mendiratta in the men’s trap.
Appearing in his first world championship, Rudrankksh is leading 4-10 in the new format in the gold medal match to decide the top two.

The Italian gunner maintained the lead for most of the final but the Indians made a great comeback to win.
Rudrankksh topped the qualifying round and was guaranteed the spot after he entered the gold medal match in second place in the ranking round.
2008 Beijing Olympics champion Bindra won a World Championship gold medal in her pet air rifle 10m event in 2006 in Zagreb, Croatia.
