RRP Elects New Board Members and Officers


Richard Lamb has been elected new chairman of the Retired Racehorse Project and Jodie Vella-Gregory has been elected the organization’s new vice president. RRP has also added new board members Dr. Shannon Reed and Sissy Wickes.

Lamb, the former vice president, has taken over the leadership role to replace the outgoing president, Sue Smith. Lamb began serving as chairman at the start of his second term on the RRP board, having joined in January 2020 after several years running at Thoroughbred Makeover.

“Having been involved in the RRP since the earliest days of Purebred Improvement, I am honored to be elected to the position of chairman of the board,” said Lamb. “The RRP has had a profound impact on outcomes for Purebreds transitioning from their racing careers and I look forward to working with the talented staff and board to position the organization.” for the next decade serving the breed.”

A native of Canada, Vella-Gregory spent her early career years as a clinician technician at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington before moving into racing, where she held positions location at Breeders’ Cup and Santa Anita Park. She is currently vice president of industrial relations at 1/ST RACING & GAMING. Vella-Gregory also serves on the advisory board of the Equestrian Club Safety Net Foundation and is a member of the planning committee for the Women’s Equestrian Summit.
