How much is the maintenance cost of Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, let’s find out.
The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 long-term test bike has just joined the Indian Autocar fleet and we spent a few days riding it in Mumbai. This motorcycle was part of Team Press on our first experience in Rajasthan and we received the bike with over 800 km on the clock. As we pass the miles, a detailed long-term report as well as road testing will be available soon. Meanwhile, in the three days we rode, the odometer had crossed the 1,000km mark. And that means it’s time for the first service.

A quick call to Royal Enfield and a service appointment was made immediately.
With the bike on the ramp, the first service of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has begun. From draining the old oil, changing the oil filter and pouring 3.1 liters of new 10W-50 fully synthetic oil into the engine; The process was completed quickly. Then the service technician came down to clean the brake pads. Next is cleaning the air filter, with compressed air blowing away sand and Rajasthani dust. The chain has also been checked and the tension adjusted as part of the initial servicing.
Considering the price of the Super Meteor 650 and the fact that it is the company’s flagship bike, the cost of performing the service is quite reasonable. The cost of oil going into the engine is Rs 2,012 while the oil filter will increase Rs 450. Add to that the cost of chain cleaners and lubricants, the total cost of the parts is Rs 2720. equal to the amount Royal Enfield charged for the Interceptor 650.
Since this is the first service, it is conducted for free and there is no labor charge. However, the service center charges Rs 118 as “consumables for service”

In addition to these fees, according to our bill, Rs 251 is charged as remuneration for brake bleed. This is done as a precaution to ensure the brakes function optimally, after they have been abused during media testing. A typical customer won’t need to squeeze their bike’s brakes at the first service.
In addition, the dealer also recommended that we carry out a check and set the wheel balance. This was again done to ensure that the bike was running flawlessly after the Rajasthan trip and was not needed at the first service.
That said, they advise customers to have their wheel balance checked at every service except the first, due to wheel and tire abuse when traveling on our less than perfect roads.
The labor cost to remove, inspect and reassemble the front wheel is Rs 756 but the same process for the rear wheel costs more, at Rs 1,353. That’s because the service technician needs to remove the left exhaust to remove the wheel.
All told, this wheel balance request is only a recommendation and it is the owner’s decision as to whether or not they want to do it and when.
