Multiple Australian Group 1 winners Zaaki (GB) (Leroidesanimaux {Brz}) could return to the Northern Hemisphere and run at Royal Ascot, coach Annabel Neasham, announced. The 7-year-old was twice successful at Group 3 level in his hometown for Sir Michael Stoute’s Freemason Lodge, and was snapped up by Neasham and Blandford Bloodstock for 150,000gns during the Tattersalls Autumn HIT 2020 Sale.
“I was hoping to bring him to Hong Kong for that race, [G1] Queen Elizabeth Cup, which I think is three weeks later [G1] Queen Elizabeth S., Neasham said Racenet.com.au.. “We vaccinated him but that’s not going to happen.”
Zaaki proved a revelation when he was knocked down, and is currently on a record seven wins in Australia’s 11 outings, three at Group 1 level. His most recent win is the scoreline. 1/2 in the All-Star Mile at Flemington on March 19.
“I would love to bring him back to Royal Ascot,” said Neasham, who was forced to finish from G1 Cox Plate on the morning of the race. “But I also want to win Cox Plate with him because it was devastating what happened last year.
“Whether we can beat England and get back to Cox Plate, I don’t know. We can win Cox Plate with him and go abroad next year. “
She added, “I don’t understand or get enough of the ratings, but I find Timeform’s ratings to be excellent. I just know that in this country we’ve got great races and big prize money. ”
