‘Roseanne Barr: Cancel this!’ Embrace the country MAGA

Roseanne Barr is the poster child for Cancela practice that cuts both ways.

Hollywood Crushed Barr’s ‘Roseanne’ Reboot After Her raw 2018 Tweets against Valerie Jarrett. That cancellation also makes her amused by those exhausted from over-awakening and eager for Donald Trump’s grassroots pro-voices.

AKA… MAGA Country.

Roseanne Barr Cancel This Fox Nation

Barr celebrates that fact in her Fox Nation comeback special. “Roseanne Barr: Cancel this!” found the sitcom legend attacked “libtards,” mocked the pandemic transgression and claimed her pronoun was “kiss me a**.”

What’s missing? The spark of comics made Barr’s “goddess of the house” refreshing at the dawn of her career. “Cancel this!” may have been the catalyst for both Barr and her fans, but it’s hardly the best comedy.

Barr opened the hour-long rally by sharing what happened with Tweet Heard ‘Around the World. She said the lack of sleep, combined with an Ambien cocktail and psychotropic drugs, led her to call Obama’s senior White House adviser a cross between the Muslim Brotherhood and the “Planet of the Apes” “.

And, again, Barr said of the light-skinned Jarrett, “I thought that bitch was white.”

It’s a rambling look at the worst chapter of her professional life, including sifting through the late-night comic, who wears all black but continues to collect huge net checks. It is both a great reference and a missed opportunity, one of many exceptional opportunities.

Barr ended up turning the special event into a regular stand-alone event. That’s when the trouble started.

Barr kept glancing down at what appeared to be a monitor at the foot of the stage, seemingly to follow her material.

The 70-year-old hasn’t performed since his brief 2019 tour, so the cheating approach can be forgiven. What is less is the weakness of jokes.

Barr focuses on public moments, in a rowdy style, from attacking over-access to vaccines to mocking p***y hat-wearing feminists.

She’s on a firmer ground when she summons.”What are women?“Cultural debate, complete with several answer choices.

“Women are the ones who clean up other people’s poop,” she exclaims.

Roseanne Barr circa 2023 repeats MAGA thinking in many ways. For example, she advocates marijuana. She holds no malice against gay people, with one shout to the LGBTQ crowd receiving warm applause.

It’s Trump-style populism, often misunderstood or criticized by the press.

her socialist leanings (she ran for the White House as a Green Party Candidate) washes away distrust of new, approved stories.

Mostly “Cancel this!” is a profound confession. Barr shares heartbreaking stories as an overweight teenager and how her parents scolded her for her heavy body. Some of the more honest revelations provide the funniest moments.

She criticized today’s parents for being too soft on their children and why it is harmful to society.

“Who else has teenagers in their 50s?” She asked, easily the best line of the special. More, please.

Other jokes feel too easy, underneath a comic about her considerable legacy. She recalls growing up as a Jewish girl in Mormon Central — Salt Lake City, Utah.

“We stick like a sore thumb. We only have one mother.”

Then she shared about life in Hawaii.

“It’s a short ride from ‘Aloha’ to a hole.” Lamented.

The craziest part of her Fox Nation return?

You don’t have to squint to see Barr’s unique worldview, a blue-collar atmosphere that transcends the buzz of the media. Every time Barr gets closer to that reality, an updated version of her old self, she switches to a weaker joke.

Barr vowed to beat Cancel Culture in the special, but what she said proved distracting and ineffective. In a way, she’s like Trump himself, a character brave enough to identify cultural poisons, like corrupt journalism, without the precision needed to corrupt them.

What Barr needed was to hit the road again, rekindle the old flame and play with crowds less eager to cheer for her.

Is such a tour even possible? Ask Louis CK.

Disgraceful comic, whose real-world action deserves far more cancellations than a single Tweet, etched the guerrillas are back by relying on his strength and his die-hard fans.

Barr can do the same. First, however, she needs to let go of the professionalism and realize that not every crowd will cheer her MAGA applause.
