Rose Jean Ramos wins two golds in youth weightlifting world championships
MANILA, Philippines-Rose Jean Ramos repeated her previous performance at the 2022 International Weightlifting Federation Youth World Championships, winning two golds and one silver in the women’s 45kg.
The 17-year-old from Zamboanga city has indeed dominated her division for three consecutive years, topping the online event hosted by Peru in 2020, the 2021 edition held physically in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia before her most recent hit.
Ramos, who has Allen Diaz as coach, lifted 70kg on her third attempt at the silver medal, but recovered in clean and loop with an 85kg effort for a total of 155kg, collecting Get yourself a pair of gold.
Kerlys Maria Montilla of Venezuela is second on a total of 153 points after winning the steal with 71 and comes in third clean and loopy with 82.
India’s Soumya Sunil Dalvi finished in third place overall (148), second in cleans and loops (83) but fifth in loops (65).
Called one of the worthy successors of Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, Ramos improved her total lift of 147kg last year during the youth world championships held in Leon, Mexico.
President of Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas Monico Puentevella thanked the Philippine Sports Commission and the MVP Sports Organization for their unwavering support of Ramos’ trip to the world.
