Ronda Pilipinas: Ronald Oranza rules stage 6, wrests overall lead

MANILA, Philippines — Navy Standard Insurance’s Ronald Oranza thrived in the tough climb to dominate Stage Six and take the overall personal lead in LBC Ronda Pilipinas 2022 on Tuesday.

Oranza conquered the dreaded Talisay-Tagaytay Road — a tough 11.7 km stretch with 10 hairpins — to dominate the 148.3-kilometer trail that begins in Lucena and ends in front of the Monument of the Hands. pray in Tagaytay.

He hit three hours, 40 minutes and 45 seconds to snatch the top spot from Go for Gold’s Jonel Carcueva.

The King Ronda Pilipinas 2018 Hands up in glee after checking in at the finish line, where he was greeted by a crowd cheering, shouting and chanting his name.

“I didn’t expect to wear the red shirt, but I’m glad I did,” said Oranza, who led the 2018 race.

Oranza’s teammate El Joshua Carino came in second with a time of 3:42:39 while the former LBC red-shirted Jan Paul Morales of Excellent Noodles is tracked at 3:42:41.

The result pushed Oranza to the top from 6th place at 18:46:04 while Carcueva, who registered 3:46:09 in the stage, slipped to third at 18:49:01.

Morales, who finished 1st from Stages One to Four before Carcueva overtook him in Stage Five, held on to 2nd place in 18:46:46.

Recent developments have rocked the rankings once again as Mervin Corpuz of Excellent Noodles slipped to 4th from 3rd at 18:50:51, Navy Standard Insurance’s Jeremy Lizardo leaped up to No. 5th from 13th at 18:52:36, and the excellent Mar Francis Sudario of Noodles jumped from 12th to 6th at 18:55:01.

Oranza and the Navy men also consolidated their overall team lead with a total time of 53:41:57 eight minutes ahead of Excellent Noodles (54:00:28) and 18 minutes ahead of Go for Gold ( 54:29: 24).
