Ron Rivera gives positive update on Brian Robinson Jr.

Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera offered a promising update on the condition of re-run rookie Brian Robinson Jr., who has was shot multiple times during an attempted robbery on August 28.

According to Commanders WireRivera reveals the organization likes “what [they] watch every time [they] slope something up. He hasn’t been severely affected so far. “

He was placed on non-football injury list after the shooting, opened the door to the possibility of a return to action this season. But hearing Rivera optimistic about a return to the field less than a month after the incident is unexpected and wonderful news.

And while the team is looking forward to it, Rivera is in no hurry to bring in Robinson Jr. back to the field. “Honestly, with our hopes of not telling you guys the timeline, yes,” their rookie running back will be back sooner rather than later.

Team doctor James Andrews, known for working with tall bodybuilders like Drew Brees (shoulder) and Adrian Peterson (knee) during their recovery, will soon evaluate Robinson Jr to make sure he is on track for his return, according to Rivera.

Robinson Jr. was drafted 98th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft at the University of Alabama. The two-time national champion had his best season with the Crimson Tide as senior, reaching 1,639 yards in 306 touches and scoring 16 touches.
